In SIlicon Valley

Made a trip to Silicon Valley, the one in India. This is where i will be living for at least next few months or years. Great weather compared to Chennai, Coimbatore or Minneapolis. Road travel times are crazy during peak hours; better to walk if you can. could see lots of road construction projects going on. compared to Sep 2007 travel time to Electronic City (EC) from Madivala has reduced considerably. Best thing in city are Volvo BMTC buses to EC; they take you right in front of office gate faster and in comfort next only to cool young Indian work force you can see everywhere in the city.

Post after a long break

Back in India. It was a good feeling coming home for good. Had fun travelling with potential H1N1 carriers in the flight. Had typical settling in set of illness i.e cold and flu. Luckily its not H1N1. Best thing was meeting my friends, cherished all reminiscent moments. Best part was when one of my best school day friend showed up at Chennai airport at midnight; something i really consider great when we have lost touch for last 19 years.

getting down to business

am really bored without going to work for the past 10 days. trying to get some personal stuff done. got my flight ticket from my company. i am flying on July 25. its going to be a great trip but different than all my trips for the past 8 years. Waiting for other official talks to happen regarding my work. fingers crossed.

Motor City

made an unplanned trip to motor city to get my car title. I met few of my friends. It was a 3 day trip covering 2200 miles alone for most part. I enjoyed the drive except when i felt sleepy. i was shocked to death when i saw my super hatch mazda 3's mileage. I filled tank at madison WI and started driving to Detroit MI. It was 480 miles and I could do away with only one tank of gas (11.2 gallons); calculates to almost 43 mpg. this was with ac on almost all the time and cruising at 65-75 mph. I was so happy but at the same time I have to sell it in another 2 weeks. not so easy; however, its raining small cars in india now and if i am lucky would buy a car in India, ofcourse on a loan;)
i am done with twin cities for now and am back at my friends place in madison, WI. Minneapolis is a great place except the winter time. this year it looks like its the only season all year long. Its only in 60's even in summer. bye bye 30 below windchill.
6 years of my life was spent in Detroit, lot of memories when i drove around Wayne State University campus. If only 6 years of life in Detroit had so much to think about, I am sure that my native place where i grew up for 23 years has much more for me. Eager to meet my school friends. Got in touch with one of my best school day friend recently. he runs a software company in Chennai. Great start given that i had lost touch with him for the past 19 years. Hope I will get a chance to meet them all.

Time off in a long time

Done with my current job on June 30, 09. Got some time off to take care of personal stuff mainly packing my belongings and selling my Mazda 3 hatchback. Cool car, will be tough to part. The company in India that i will be working for is taking care of tickets and probably they might have something for me back there in couple months. So far everything is very smooth in this transition. Looking forward for the July 4th weekend. Driving to Madison, WI to visit my friends. Happy Independence Day!! I will try to visit most of my friends before i go back.

Sun shines in Minnesota again!!

I am so relieved very much since everything went fine today when i said that I am sticking to my original plan of going back to India. Explained to my manager, peers that my family needs me there and everyone was so understanding. Just transferred all work to my peers. I am back now with more excitement, unlimited happiness when my manager and team said that they would accommodate me in future in case i wish to come back to US for work. I don't know at this time whether i am coming back or not; however, it just simply feels awesome when not one but many say that. I hope I would keep up my work where ever i go and work in India. Back baby back!!! Sun shines in twin cities today for me.

Added confusion

sometimes i think life is not fair. i was decided and ready to do one thing, to go back to India for good and then suddenly hear from my boss that they want me to work for another 3-6 months. i will tell you that this type of decision is not easy to make especially you have the job you want to do for the rest of your life on one hand and your family who needs you on the other hand. so i think life is fair with less options. still thinking, will post again as soon as i decide. i don't know if i am going to sleep tonite. what a bummer after i gave away/sold all my stuff except my car :(
